I just got a form letter from Sen. Bill Nelson's office, regarding the letter I sent about a month ago. I requested Sen. Nelson's support for the various legislative efforts to force the District of Columbia to comply with the Supreme Court's decision.
Although Bill Nelson is not one of the top anti-gun advocates, he is does not have a history of promoting our second amendment rights. Still, I wanted him to know my position on the matter.
I won't post the entire response, because it really says nothing at all, except that he supports "the constitutional right to bear arms." Whatever that means. The one thing that did stand out in his response is this: Thank you for contacting me regarding the Supreme Court ruling in the case of D.C. v. Heller. As you are aware, this ruling upheld a constitutional right to own guns for self-defense and hunting. I am tempted to call his office right now and ask which part of the Second Amendment refers to feral hogs. |
