Every time a politician claims to "support the Second Amendment", I can't help but think "it doesn't need your support, asshole, but thanks anyway."
I want politicians to stop promising support for our natural and pre-existing right to self defense and start promising to simply abide by it. Their support doesn't add to or detract from my actual right, only how it is enforced.
Here's a free hint for politicians who want to pander to us gun nuts: In every speech you give, replace "I support your rights" with "I promise not to infringe on your rights, and I promise to fight anyone who attempts to infringe on your rights."
Until you do that, I won't trust that you have half a clue about what the Second Amendment means. |
