Denying an old woman the means to protect herself is not a glitch in the system.
First and foremost, It is a violation of her right to keep and bear arms. This right is enumerated in both the U.S. Constitution and the Delaware Constitution. There is no provision in either document for the government to engage is that kind of behavior.
Second, this is blatant sexism and ageism. Imagine if the DSP had stated, "we found out that the man was black, and 22 years old, so we put the sale on hold for the safety of the community." That'd go over like a fart in a spacesuit.
Third, the record-keeping in Delaware regarding who owns firearms is in violation of the right of privacy. Quite a few states have strict rules that limit the ability to keep records about law-abiding citizens and what property they own. Even in cases where there are records kept, there are strict access controls. I don't know about Delaware law, but the constitution certainly does not give state authorities the power to keep records like this. |
