Speaking of usquebaugh, my "usual" scotch has always been either Glenfiddich 15 or (more recently) Macallan 40. I don't drink blended scotch unless I'm at a bar that has no real scotch. I do like to try out new single-malts on occasion, especially when I know I'll get in trouble for spending $90 on a single bottle.
Anyhoo, here are my last two experimental purchases...
#1 Tomatin - Cheap, crappy. Serve it to people who don't like scotch to make sure they'll continue to not like scotch, ensuring the safety of your stash. Tomatin is not very complex, not very smooth, and barely drinkable. It might be useful for degreasing gun parts, but it is easier to withstand the odor of Beechwood-Casey Gun Scrubber. I would prefer most bourbon to Tomatin, and I really don't like bourbon.
#2 Glen Ness - Cheap, decent. For a single malt that comes in massive jugs, and is cheaper than deer piss, Glen Ness is drinkable in much the same way that Tomatin isn't. It isn't exactly the finest scotch whiskey in the world, but it is a worthy bottle to pick up when you've spent all of your money on ammunition. |
