People are afraid of what kind of gun control Obama and the more-Democratic congress are gonna push.
Since the election, the FBI is showing a 49% increase in background checks for gun purchases. Many types of ammo are getting scarce. Considering the bills that have been floating around for the last few years, I'd say their fears are not unfounded.
Personally, I just picked up some Hodgdons FFg-equivalent Pyrodex, pre-lubed pillow ticking patches, #11 percussion caps, and .490 caliber round balls. The thing is, my .50-cal muzzle loader has an evil black synthetic stock, it is based on a military rifle (well, from about 150 years ago), and is (in theory) capable of killing large game at 100 yards. So it meets a lot of the criteria and has a lot of the cosmetic features that anti-gun bigots are trying to ban.
Sure, they'll go after military pattern rifles first. Then the fifty-caliber sniper rifles. Then the rest of the "sniper" rifles. Then handguns. Then guns that are too loud. Then guns that are too quiet. Then guns that are too big. Then guns that are too small. Then guns that shoot the wrong kind of ammunition. Then guns that aren't "smart" enough.
Then they'll move the goalposts and start again. |
