The award goes to Evan Schwartz for this brilliant statement: People have the fundamental right to own guns. But it should be so difficult to own a gun in this country and regulations should be so tight that only qualified people can get them into their hands. "Fundamental". You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
If a right is fundamental, in the way the the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are fundamental, then making it difficult to exercise the right through tight regulations would necessarily infringe upon the right.
Depending on how much credit you give Mr. Schwartz, this inconsistency can be attributed to either intentional malicious hypocrisy, or simply being a run-of-the-mill idiot.
First Runner-up for "stupid of the day" is... also Evan Schwartz: The issue, of course, is scribbled on a piece of paper more than 200 years old. So is the First Amendment, fucker.
Second Runner up is... also Evan Schwartz: it is necessary to have had a law on the books for 30 years amending the Second Amendment. Laws cannot amend the constitution. Clearly Evan spends more time drinking koolaid than studying civics.
I'd keep going, but it only gets worse. Really, really worse. |
