Some time ago, I posted an entry to this blog aimed at recruiters who undoubtedly google me.
It seems that a lot of them are finding my resume, but not many seem to have read that post.
I guess there are a few things that must be repeated from time to time:
I don't want a short term contract.
If you try to sell me on a contract-to-hire, you BETTER DAMN WELL BE ABLE TO WALK THE WALK.
I don't want to live anywhere cold.
I don't want to live in a socialist state.
I don't want to work as a sub-sub-sub-contractor at Jethro and Billy's consulting firm and body shop.
You will offer me a reasonably competitive salary for someone with my experience. I'm certainly not going to take less than I make now, so why are you bothering me with your junior-level jobs?
I won't take a job that doesn't have a competitive benefits package. Once again, if you can't offer me that, then bug off.
If the position requires me to move across the country, I expect to be compensated for the trouble. There are lots of other companies out there that are trying to hire me... why would I take such a financial gamble for yours? I'm not being cocky, just realistic.
I'm married to an experienced technical recruiter, so I know when I'm being sold to. Cut the crap and let's get down to business.
If you are coming to me (which is probably the case since I rarely apply for jobs) then keep in mind you want me more than I need you. Perspective is important. I hate coming off as cocky, but I get sick of being told how things are. I know already. I am interested in the facts, the numbers, and the bottom line. |
