The average air temperature in my office is historically cold enough to freeze alcohol. It is typically worse in the summer when the building's AC units are pumping frigid air into our hermetically sealed corner of the office. Thankfully, the building's manager was recently able to balance the air flow to the point that we don't always need mittens. Now during the winter, the difference between the brisk outside air and the greenhouse effect in the sun-struck portion of a big glass building generally even out.
It is for these reasons that I tend to wear heavier clothing to work. It sucks in the dead of summer, but it isn't so bad during the month or two of chilly weather we get down here in Tampa. It sucks to be shivering while trying to debug code.
Today the building's air conditioner is broken. All of the little bubbles in my Galileo Thermometer are fighting over who gets to be closer to the bottom of the jar.
Dammit, I hope they get this fixed soon.
Update:
And what did I bring for lunch? Clam chowder. You know how unappealing hot, thick, creamy New England style clam chowder is when you have sweat dripping from your ears? |
