From an email newsletter (likely using former Sen. Martinez's email list) sent out by Senator Lemieux's office: Minutes after my swearing-in ceremony, I had the privilege of casting my first vote. The question was whether to confirm Cass R. Sunstein to be the head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. While Mr. Sunstein is a very accomplished individual, I cast my vote against this nominee because his views are not in line with the values of Florida's families. Mr. Sunstein's opposition to an individual's right to bear arms as guaranteed under the 2nd Amendment make him an inappropriate pick to lead an important federal office.
Previously I discussed Lemieux's lukewarm 2A lip-service. More than anything, it seems like he's using the Second Amendment as a reason to be partisan, not as a bedrock principle of liberty. Granted, I don't disagree with his vote, but I still haven't heard a definitive statement from Lemieux renouncing his previous support for ridiculous gun control measures. Lemieux continues to fail to impress me on this issue. Even his best pal Charlie Crist, whom I loath more every day, is a strong and vocal supporter of the Second Amendment. |
