Ok, quick rant...
A close friend just sent me this article about a creek near my hometown that was once a great place to hang out and fish. It was the place to catch musky.
Someone has recently been dumping a lot of toxic chemicals into it, and it is now nearly dead.
How does this relate to global warming? Let me 'splain: Pencil-pushing assholes in Washington spend huge amounts of energy and effort on the non-issue of anthropogenic global climate change (or whatever they call it these days.) The amount of time and money that have been spent chasing this red herring have been wasted. On the other hand, we have real environmental crimes, with real victims, and real devastation. Do you hear about it in the New York Times? Washington Post? Is Al Gore going to make a movie about Dunkard Creek in WV?
Fuck no.
Why? Because there's no MONEY to be made talking about it. It isn't an issue that can be used effect political goals, or to terrify the populace through the use of hyperbole and hand waiving. Its just some dead fish, right? The difference between me and the typical elite liberal is that the criminal destruction of one little fishing stream ranks infinitely higher on my list of important environmental issue than the size of my "carbon footprint". Fuck anyone who claims to be an environmentalist and disagrees with me.
Anyway, I hope they find who is responsible for killing this once vibrant creek, and nail his testicles to the nearest tree. I'll even supply the nails. |
