Yugo 59/66. This is my favorite plinking gun, and perhaps even a SHTF gun. It'll unload all 10 rounds in the blink of an eye (which is fun) but it is also gentle as a baby. As far as accuracy though, it is severly lacking. I can barely shoot 5 inch groups at 50 yards with iron sights. Part of that is my lousiness as a shooter, but the sights just aren't that great, and the gun itself isn't exactly in pristine condition. Out of the 4 Yugo SKSs that Dunhams had that day, this was the nicest. Some of them may have had more character (stock carvings, stickers, etc.) but I wanted a gun that looks nice. The least fun thing about this gun was de-cosmolining it. What a gunky mess!
Ok, it's been done to death, but I'm gonna do it anyway

Soviet M44. This is mostly a conversation starter, and also something for putting the occasional hole in side-of-a-barn sized targets. Surplus 7.62x54 can still be had pretty cheap, and since I'll never use it for hunting, defense, or target shooting, I'm never going to worry about "good quality" ammo. Most of the surplus is corrosive, which I don't mind since I clean my guns every time I fire them. Oh, and it isn't like the barrel was particularly fantastic in the first place. I can actually hit a 3-inch target, offhand, at 30 yards 3 out of 5 times with it... so that ain't bad. I still want one without the integral bayonet (like my dad's.) It is also the first gun I ever bought. There is always the temptation to sporterize this guns, and in fact, Dunhams had some pre-sporterized ones for sale... but it isn't accurate enough to be a deer rifle (although a lot of them are) and the historical value is too important to me anyway.
Again...
