I have a love/hate relationship with the local gun trading boards. I mostly find all kinds of awesome things to drool over that I'll never be able to afford. However, on occasion I do manage to find a good deal that cannot be passed up. For the last few years, I was in the market for an decent but inexpensive .22 pistol. Strangely, my gun show hunting never turned up much that wasn't either overpriced or rusty (or sometimes both.)
I was pretty sure I wanted a double-action revolver, but all the nice S&W K-22s I found were outrageously priced. I like some of the semi-autos out there, but I've been on somewhat of a revolver kick lately. Besides, I can't seem to find a Ruger MkII for under $300 anywhere. Anyway, a few weeks ago I came across a cheap Ruger Single Six on one of the gun boards and decided to grab it. Although I still really wanted a double-action revolver, I also have a soft spot in my heart for SAs. The Ruger is great, and fills the ".22 pistol" hole in my gun safe perfectly.
The problem with the local gun boards is that they have an uncanny knack for knowing when I have a few unclaimed bucks in my bank account.
The other day, someone posted a Hi Standard Sentinel Deluxe. They were asking well below what they are selling for on Gun Broker. An inexpensive DA .22 revolver! Good condition! With the original box and papers! I couldn't help myself...

KdT posted a nice review, and I found some other info here. The Sentinel is a reasonably accurate little 9-shot revolver. It has easy-to-acquire non-adjustable sights, and an amazingly comfortable grip, and a lightweight aluminum frame. The trigger is not entirely wonderful, but it isn't the worst I've felt either. The cylinder is released by tugging on the ejector rod, which is a pretty cool way of doing it if you ask me.

If my last 3 firearms acquisitions (last 5 if you just count handguns) are any indication, I'm turning into a real wheelgun freak.
