If you ask, "What does the Army run on?" you will get many different answers. Machinery? Supply lines? Blood and guts? It turns out those are all wrong. The Army actually runs on signatures. Not a single transaction occurs without a signature. It doesn't matter whose it is, because nobody will ever check, but there better damn well be a signature. No signature? Didn't happen. The other day one of the facilities personnel knocked on our door, saying he was doing plumbing inspections. "Our trailer has no plumbing," I say. So he had me sign the checklist with a note that says, "No plumbing". |
