Just because I moved to FL doesn't mean I can't keep in touch with my home state's politics...
Apparently, Mollohan is at it again! Too soon after being re-elected? Who's to say. People still love him in WV, because he brings in significantly more than the state's fair share of bacon.
Nobody expected it to stop, even with him being investigated for ethics/money stuff. Of course, I haven't heard anything in the national media about that investigation since before last election. As I correctly foretold, it was nothing but a political maneuver to try and steal a few votes from him. The thing is, it doesn't matter what the rest of the country thinks (or thought) about his earmarks, because the voters of the state all benefit from his actions.
Anyway, I'm anti-pork for the most part, but I'll admit my previous 2 jobs in WV relied on Mollohan and Byrd's handouts. I jumped ship because I knew relying on a politician to keep an industry afloat (in this case, WV's growing tech industry) is a bad idea... not that I had any thoughts of them getting booted from Congress or anything. But when the economically conservative, small-government, liberatian revolution comes, I don't want to be laid off because my congress-critter can't send the usual care package home. |
