Every time there is a crime solved using a microstamped case, I'll buy a box of ammo. Every time a case goes unsolved because the technology doesn't work, I'll drink a beer.

On the other hand, this technology won't even be in place for quite a few years. Regardless, I definitely won't buy a microstamping gun or any serialized ammo. Rather, if manufacturers start doing this crap on their own, I'll probably just stock up... make sure I have enough guns and ammo for my great grandchildren.
