"...according to a classified report obtained by USA TODAY."
First, let me say I don't think the TSA does a particularly stellar job. Calling their rules "Security Theater" is pretty damn close to the truth. I don't expect them to catch 100% of the bad guys, or 100% of the bombs. That just isn't possible. Making up silly rules that don't provide any added security doesn't make sense either. The trick is balance, and as of right now, they are starting to look like a fat kid on a see-saw.
Now, the real reason for my post. There is a reason that certain information which is vital to our national security is classified. We do not tell our enemies how we gather intelligence, and we do not tell enemies about our weaknesses. The reason for that should be clear. One, if we deploy a new technology to watch the bad guys, then we only have an advantage as long as they don't know about it. Two, if we give up detailed information on our weaknesses, that is basically begging for an attack. The army doesn't post the best ways to defeat the armor on our tanks because then we'd start seeing our enemies successfully blowing up our tanks. For this same reason, we don't tell our enemies precisely how to sneak bombs onto airplanes undetected.
Anyone who has access to classified information realizes the dire importance of safeguarding that information. They will protect said information at all costs unless: they are spies, or have a political agenda that sees a benefits from damage to our nation's security. Both of these cases, we are dealing with traitors. I use the term traitor, because to access classified information, they must have at one point promised to safeguard our nation's security. Clearly, by disseminating classified material to the press, they have forsaken that promise and betrayed their country.
Traitors should be executed, by a firing squad, on the White House lawn. Why we don't do this is beyond me. |
