#1 - FiOS is now available in my neighborhood. I'm gonna have to think about it for a bit, after hearing what Robb had to deal with. Regardless, its DAMN fast, reasonably priced and installation is free right now. I also really don't like Verizon for so many reasons, but even I have a price for giving up my principals, fiber run right up to my house is it.
#2 - WOOHOO! I got my new (used) shotgun today. After waiting the mandatory 3 days to "cool down" (i.e. having to use my SKS to go on a murderous rampage if that was my plan which it isn't), I picked it up at the local gun shot and range. While I was finished up paper work, Beth gravitated back towards the 1911 case to oggle the various even-more-expensive Kimbers (this time the CDP with night sights and a crimson-trace laser grip.) Anyway, about my new toy... It is a Mossberg 500A, 12 gauge, pump action, with a 5 round magazine. Standard stuff, well loved by the masses. It is in its factory sport-utility configuration right now, but I may buy a shorter barrel for dealing with in-home 2-legged critter attacks. I took it apart, cleaned it, lightly oiled it, and cycled some 3-inch 00 shells through it, to make sure everything is in proper working order. Sometime this week I'll take it to the range and try 'er out. Now I gotta start googling for all the "tacticool" accessories I'm not gonna buy cuz they are silly but I secretly want anyway. I'd post a picture, but my lovely wife took our only digital camera back to WV. And that leads me to...
#3 - I'm playing bachelor for the week. Of course I'll probably spend most of my evenings cleaning or fixing stuff around the house. But with any luck I'll have an evening free to go to the range, or go fishing. This will mark the second time Beth has been up to Morgantown during an important football game... and she isn't going to this one either. Kinda silly if you ask me. |
