During our trip last week to Sedona, we decided to take one of the Jeep tours. First of all, it was pretty dang cool. Living in WV, we would take the our Wrangler off-road all the time, but since we moved to Florida, there aren't many good "off road" locations. Well, there are, but they are just mud and sand... which isn't as fun as crawling over boulders.
Anyway, to my point... our guide was humorous, and the locations we saw were spectacular. And he carried a gun (single-action Ruger revolver.) In fact, all of the tour guides did. In Arizona, open carry is legal, and he made a point to let us know that. All the guides there were dressed like cowboys, so I guess that's part of the deal. They like pulling out their revolver for pictures, and he did on numerous occasions. Anyway, I was rather proud of my wife (who as you may know is relatively new to firearms) when she turned to me and said angrily, "he's got his finger on the trigger!" Then he did one of those spinny tricks and re-holstered it. Then, "He pointed the gun in an unsafe direction!"
She also asked if I thought it was loaded... A)I'm sure it was, and B)it doesn't matter because all guns are loaded. I then explained to her that, being a single action revolver, it must be cocked in order to fire, so technically, what he did wasn't exactly unsafe, but it is still a poor decision, and one I don't condone.
