Ok, these are getting kind of old... but it seems some cops are getting a little trigger-happy. I'm all for cops having the ability to use non-lethal force, especially with unruly customers. However, if you look at the difference in the timestamp between the officer asking for the driver's license, and him pulling the trigger, it is less than a minute. It is 9 seconds between the person stepping out of the vehicle and being tasered, with no clear hostile movements. Granted, the person was acting like an ass, but the cop didn't even seem to give him a reasonable chance to A) get out his drivers license and B) move to the back of his car to be frisked.
Why people talk to cops like that during traffic stops, I'll never understand. But surely there is a little more of a line that can be drawn between "proper taser use" and being a power-drunk thug. |
