Well, it isn't in my warm, live hands yet. Damned Hillsborough County 3-day "cooling off" period. Foiled again! Now if I want to go on a murder spree, I have to use my Mosin Nagant, Yugo SKS, Mossberg 500, Bersa Thunder, or Bobcat. None of those will possibly do as good of a job as the gun I am waiting for... a cheap-as-dirt bolt-action .22LR.
Ah well. The thing is, I could have driven about 20 minutes across the county line, and purchased the exact same rifle from the exact same chain store, and I wouldn't have had to wait. Funny huh? I was in a hurry though (not to get the gun, but to meet some friends for dinner) so I just filled out my 4473 and left. I'll pick it up Monday after work.
Anyway, the model I chose is a Mossberg 802. I know there are a lot of better choices out there for more accurate rimfire rifles, but I just wanted something A)good for teaching newbies A)reasonable for plinking and C)somewhere in the neighborhood of $100-$120 (because thats how much money I have on my gift cards.) Some day, I'll probably pick up a higher-end Marlin or Ruger. But this one is basically free, since I'm using my Christmas gift cards.
