Back in February, I mentioned that I acquired a new Kel-Tec p32.
Well, yesterday, I picked up some new accessories for it. First of all, I got one of those 10 round extended mags. It looks silly as all hell, but I tested it at the range today, and it works flawlessly. Plus, it feels pretty good in my hand, and adds virtually no weight or size to the pistol, but it does add three more rounds. For shorts/t-shirt, the 7 round mag will reduce printing to virtually null, but for most clothing, while just about any other attire will work fine with the 10 round mag. Of course, all this talk about carrying it, obviously one needs a holster. I have the belt clip for it, which works ok, but it doesn't cover the trigger and I don't really trust it anyway. Pocket carry is fine, but you still really need a holster to keep it in the right position and so it doesn't print like a gun.
So... My second purchase was a nice Don Hume J.I.T. Slide (no. 8 ) holster from the neighborhood gun shop. I am kind of regretting that now because my wife tried it on and really liked it, which means I probably won't have a Kel-Tec to carry anymore. I did my best to mitigate the likelihood of her stealing my warm-weather carry piece by taking her to the range and letting her behold the glory that is a (rented) Glock 19. After shooting most of a box, she turned to me and said "I'll take it". Actually, I think carrying my Kel-Tec around for a while gave her a good idea of why external safeties really have no purpose if you have a good holster.
Anyway, the holster sit just right on my belt and waistline. When I have my shirt untucked, it is completely concealed. Plus, the holster is the perfect size and shape for a pocket holster! So if it isn't on my belt, I can just tuck it into my pocket quickly. The only problem with that is that the holster holds the gun pretty tight, so it might be tough to draw that way.
Oh, and yes, I did take those pictures on a fuzzy pink blanket. The gun is so little and cute, I felt that was the most appropriate background for it |
