Half a day of work, then off to Jennings Randolph Lake for some camping and fishing.
Camping, because there's nothing better than eggs and bacon in the morning on a cast iron skillet sitting precariously on the fire.
Fishing because we'll need something to eat for dinner!
I've never been to this particular lake, which is managed dually by WV and MD. It looks pretty small compared to Deep Creek Lake, or even Cheat Lake. That shouldn't fool anyone though, because it is big enough (and clean enough) to support a trophy-sized breeding trout population, even with heavy fishing. Of course, we're not going for the trout, because they're all at the bottom trying to avoid the heat (can you blame them?) Primarily the smallies, and to a smaller extent the walleye will be our quarry. Summertime fishing in this area is usually limited to catfish and smallmouth, but there are still walleye around.
If the fishing is good, I'll write up a report about it. |
